When i finally emerged, it was among layers of tulle and lace. I paused a while to catch my breath as if iv been submerged under for too long. Some adjusting and twisting followed soon after, and again, another long pause- i needed to be zipped and laced up.
it was like finding out the secrets of what made the gowns all princessy and well shaped.
like seeing the unglamourous makings behind the beautiful finishes.
Today was fun, despite the initial anxiety of not having booked an appointment with the bridal studio. My awkwardness was put aside by the warm smile of Miah, who wisely gave me time and space to look around at the gowns, before letting me fit on the various off-the-rack gowns which caught my eye.
Despite not being in perfect bride shape, he was quick to reassure, give suggestions, air his views and also contribute ideas to the colours, length of veils, types of bouquets i could have to match a wedding amid the Christmas season.
My first bridal studio, and there i found something i really liked. something of lace and duchess satin. something whose long train could be hooked up into a still-glamourous, shorter and more convenient finish for the tea ceremony and for moving around the church during reception.
Most of all, i think i found a designer who could articulate what i think i want, and paint the finishing touches for me. I showed him a picture of an evening gown, a toga, with ruching finising, and it seems it would not be an issue for him either.
Call it naive, or simple-minded, but...
As i thanked Miah most gratefully and stepped out the glass doors of Amanda Lee's Wedding, i felt most at ease.
Checking another box on the to-do list...i think i found my bridal studio :)
P.S: Bridesmaids would be in a similar coloured dress, the colour of my gown, most likely off-white/ ivory coloured, with a dark purple sash/ brocade. My bouquet would be a mix of white flowers, with a light green tinge, and purple flowers :) imports from Holland.
